Toothdogs

The main population of The Pit is not people, but these loveable hairy mutants!

Funfacts:

  • They don't seem to eat anything but people, but they don't seem to be starving even when meals are evading them or scarce.

  • There are two types of toothdogs, blackhounds and pariahs. Blackhounds are the more plentiful type, ranging from the size of a labrador retriever to the size of a wolfhound. Pariahs are much larger, tan or sandy in color and sometimes lack the chest-mouth that blackhounds have.

  • They fear very little and are incredibly aggressive, even attacking larger monsters or moving pieces of debris.

  • Thanks to their disproportional paws, they are very clumsy... but even though they occasionally crash while running they will roll, skid, and scramble their way to upright position again without stopping.

  • Yes, they breed within the confines of the Pit. Care of pups is most comparable to hyena behaviors, though lately it seems they've been leaving their puppies with something else while they scout...

  • Intelligence is questionable and seems to be in a constant flux. Sometimes they will be incredibly calculating and other times they will run into walls, fall down holes, and demonstrate other lacks of cognitive capabilities.

  • They just want to play!

  • They were the first experiments released into the Pit and provided the basis of all subsequent experiments.

Eyebirds

Look like bad breeding between any combination of storks, puffins, crows and spiders. A monthly air-raid of "eyebirds" comes through, attacks and leaves, though it's rather hard to track them...

FUNFACTS:

[list][*]An excellent source of protein!

[*]Four eyes on each side of the head. How well they work is debatable.

[*]Twice the size of a human.

[*]Talons and a beak that any set of kitchen knives would be envious of.

[*]Pitifully easy to kill... bones are brittle and skin is thin despite the hefty appearance.

[*]The trick is actually being able to hit them though....

[*]Often seen carrying off the corpses of the fallen.... whether to devour or otherwise is unknown.

[*]Do not breed outside of captivity

[*]They come with surgically implanted weapons!

[*]Their call is a hissing screech.
